Weird instrument idea.
This project began when I was first introduced to the Ondes Martenot. I was attracted to its ability to move freely from note to note while having the ability to infinitely sustain. Having used an Ebow before, I knew it would help me create the tone I wanted.
Using a glass slide and a volume pedal, the player has the capabilities to do exactly what the Ondes Martonet does, except with a string instead of control voltage. Additionally, I was interested in the pressure sensitive volume the Ondes Martonet utilizes. By using a force sensitive resistor the player can control dynamics by pressing on a small block of wood with their left hand.
