FINALLY!!!! I picked up my J30 on Feb 22, 2021. It’s incredible.
The product is so well designed & so well built. I had high expectations (see $9,000 price tag) but it blew them out of the water. It truly does take about 30 seconds to open, and 45 seconds to close. It’s SO QUICK. And the ability to stand up inside… such a game changer. It really does feel like a space you can stretch out in and lounge around in on a rainy day or a cold night.
The day after I got it I went to REI to pick up a set of Yakima Skyline towers & 60” Corebars crossbars. I installed them in the parking lot on the feet that Ursa Minor had installed. The rear feet are on an adjustable rail, so you can change the distance between crossbars based on your needs.
I also went to Home Depot to pick up some angle aluminum & brackets to build my own solar panel mount. I use a Goal Zero Boulder 100w panel, connected to a GZ Yeti 400 (lead acid (to be upgraded later)) Spent a few hours in the parking lot drilling out the holes in the panel frame, aluminum and brackets to mount to the Yakima bars. Eventually I will also be mounting my Maxtrax to the roof rack, next to the solar panels. That’s a project for another day!
Overall, I am so happy I went with the J30 over the other options I was considering. As someone who lives in their Jeep essentially full time, it makes my lifestyle SO MUCH easier & comfortable. Seriously happy.
